Die Fraunhofer-Allianz Batterien, der Lehrstuhl für Elektrische Energiespeichertechnik der TU München und Iceventure laden herzlich
zum 13. Batteriestammtisch München am 01.06.2017 ein.

Nach einem Ausflug zu alternativen Technologien liegt der Fokus nun wieder auf Anwendungen. So planen wir einen Beitrag zum Thema Zweitnutzung aus Sicht eines Automobilkonzerns. Einen Kontrast dazu ist ein Vortrag über „High Power / Energy Battery Applications“ der den Fokus abseits des Automobils und Grid Storage mit spannende Beispielen legt. Ein geplanter Beitrag zu Laufzeitrisiken rundet den Termin ab.

Die Vortragenden:

Oliver Meyer, GE Global Research Europe 

Dr. Volker Kraus, Munich Re

PhD, studied Technical Chemistry in Nuremberg and subsequently Chemistry, receiving a Diploma from the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg.
He went on to earn his PhD in Toxicology from the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg.
Volker then worked for the Bavarian State Ministry of the Environment, Public Health and Consumer Protection before joining Munich Re at its Munich head office in 2003, as a consultant scientist.
The Munich Re Group is one of the world's largest reinsurers and the second-largest primary insurer in Germany.
5,000 insurance companies in 160 countries rely on Munich Re's expertise and financial strength.

Volker’s primary responsibility was to assess product liability risks for Munich Re and client underwriters. As a chemist and toxicologist, he was especially involved in process,
safety and loss-prevention technologies. He gave underwriters scientific and technical advice on issues relating to chemical safety, the hazards arising out of dangerous substances and long-tail chemicals exposures.

In 2008, Volker joined Munich Re’s Special Enterprise Risks (SER) unit as a senior risk analyst. SER is a new division of Corporate Insurance Partner (CIP), a 100% subsidiary of Munich Re, responsible for direct industrial business.

SER addresses new corporate risks derived from advanced enterprise-wide risk management.
His current projects include finding solutions relating to energy storage (battery performance), fuel-cells, bioenergy and desalination.

2001-2004 Electrics/Electronics R&D Dept. BMW-AG Munich/Germany

R&D specialists for system integration, function-testing and E/E analysis referring to the entire vehicle. Developing and programming (HW and SW) of case related measurement systems.

2004-2007 Quality Dpt. BMW-Brilliance JV Shenyang/P.R.China
Advanced Specialist for E/E analysis for entire vehicle. Deploying and leading a team of analysis specialist. Troubleshooting and process enhancement for production line.
Technical trainings for employees in cooperation with Shenyang University. Technical consultant for suppliers, purchasing department and BMW after sales.

2007-2009 Power-Network and Hybrid R&D Dept. BMW-AG Munich/Germany Project leader software design for high voltage power management (HVPM).
Managed a team of SW developers and steered the complete development work. Train colleagues in regards to high voltage safety and electrical safety on hybrid cars.

2009-2010 Tongji University, School of Automotive studies Shanghai/P.R.China
Project leader and E/E R&D specialist for BMW-Tongji co-development project:
A conversion of a conventional vehicle based on BMW 5series to a pure battery electric vehicle. Premises: All E-Mobility Components and R&D services sourced in China.
Debut 2010 Beijing Auto Show.

2010-2015 Electrics/Electronics R&D Dept. BMW-China, Beijing/P.R.China Manager/ Team Leader New Energy Vehicles – Charging Systems,
responsible for requirements, standardization, implementation and validation of charging systems as well as developing energy solutions
and e-mobility related services for Asian markets.

2015-2016 Electrics/Electronics R&D Dept. BMW-AG Munich/Germany
Project Leader for harness development BMW 3series.

Since 2016 Drive Train R&D Dept. BMW-AG Munich/Germany
Project manager for stationary battery storage systems and 2nd life applications.
